Pretty obvious I meant Australians
Yes it was, and enjoy your very "Astute" observations on Naval matters in general and Carriers in particular, you have built a very substantial following here with your "reportage" on the "QE and Prince of Whales", we are all waiting anxiously for your further reports of her progress. It will indeed be exciting as we await her full outfitting and sea trials, and more importantly the "arrival of her first Air Wing of F-35Bs", now that will be a day.

Nice one AFB if you like QE you will like this

Inside shot of the QE flight deck under going a coating of Aluminium and Titanium to withstand the heat from F35B exhaust up to 1,500C

10% of the flight deck is coated in this thin "spray " of powdered metal through jet of plasma at temperatures of 10,000C to make a coating 2.5mm thick which bonds to the metal below

More work to get the unit closer to operation

A inspection of the flight deck

Russia to start repairing Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier in 2017

Work to repair Russia’s Project 11435 aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov will start next year, Russian Navy Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Armament Vice-Admiral Viktor Bursuk told TASS. The ship is expected to be repaired at the Zvyozdochka Shipyard in Severodvinsk in north Russia, Bursuk added.
The ship is expected to be repaired at the Zvyozdochka Shipyard. This is the most advanced enterprise from the technological point of view. It will be able to do it," the deputy commander said in reply to a question about the repair of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov.

According to Bursuk, it still remains unknown how long the work will last. "It depends on the results of the fault detection," he added. As the deputy commander said, the ship’s radio electronic equipment and weapons will be modernized.

A source in Russia’s defense and industrial sector said earlier that work to repair the ship would begin in the first quarter of 2017.

President of Russia’s United Ship-Building Corporation Alexei Rakhmanov said in June that the contract for the upgrade of the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov was under discussion. According to him, two years will be required but the work volume and the timeframe may be changed. The ship’s armament will be replaced, Rakhmanov said.

A part, spots presumably for vertical landing as for Wasp, America. But the matter is not easy for America have take about a year !

Or eventualy also the part of the flight deck necessary for the short takeoff ?

Sorry to insist but both areas do much more than 10 %, i think only spots.

Good :) but confirm thermal coating only for these 6 spots, worck with 10 % of the flight deck don' t need protected the runway for short takeoff.

And justely :) i have read F-35B is unable to takeoff veticaly with weapons load thinking even only internal able only vertical landing with weapons load, limited ?

Some ideas for this important matter also for land operations... ?
