I'm still dealing with some health issues (diabetes related) so I'm not as active on any front at the moment.
Sorry to hear this. I know how health issues can take a toll. Just know, my friend, that our prayers are ascending from here in Idaho for you and yours.

Just sitting back and looking forward to the QECs putting to sea in due course, and enjoying a bit of peace and quiet!

Recently found this picture of F14 Tomcat with its unique shape which allowed for packed deck parking on a carrier

One reason why Iran picked F14 was because it could take off from a very short runway and could hit the high flying Mig25 with the Aim 54 phoniex missile

When the Shah seen this bird rival Boeings F15 he went for F14 straight away the down side was that it's a very tough plane to keep in the air very expensive to run and maintain

Just beautiful, I watched TOP GUN last night and the carrier and flying scenes are still something to behold, those big sloppy aileron rolls are so kool, and I believe there is an A-7 on deck in one scene..

Ah yes.. fond memories of the Tomcat.Tomcats while a beautiful aircraft to observe was in my and many others opinion a maintenance nightmare. Requiring more maintenance hours per flight hour than any other Naval aircraft...

I think I'm gonna cry, between the movie "Top Gun", and seeing the Turkey at an airshow in Springfield, Il., where the Naval Aviator made a very tight, full burner, wings forward turn inside the tower at about 300 ft, at least an 80 degree bank?? this promoted a rash of "unwarranted low flying as I attempted to perfect that maneuver in my own "front yard"???
