More powerful than any other AEGIS vessel on earth...and we should have used the basic template for the Burke IIIs.
Maintence and equipping cost of a Sejong vs Burke class please? And Sejong underwater part of hull differs a lot from what US is using on Burke class as well.

Our own Jeff Head has a most excellent web site about aircraft carriers..Jeff's page is the most OUTSTANDING aircraft carrier website available to mankind.

Off the top of my head, A Nimitz class cost between $4.5-7 billion USD depending upon when it was built. Ford class is tipping the scales at $13 Billion USD. The cost should actually be reduced for the next two ships.

As for the rest you are going to have to do a little research.

Surely the QE class is in the wrong category. There build as STOBAR's. And according to wikipedia there to be over 70k rather than 65k.

You are correct delft. The QE is STOBAR. And I had updated those tables well over a year ago...almost two years. Somehow they have not updated and I will upload the new ones again. Thanks for noticing and mentioning it.

I found this excellent video on the San Diego Union-Tribune website about USS Constellation (CV64). The ship is due to be scrapped....soon.

The video is not available on youtube.

Are you sure that the QE II class is a STOBAR carrier and not a VSTOL carrier ? Because the F-35B doesn't need to land with arrestor wires and there is no tailhook on the planes either. Non of the schematics that i have seen of the QE II carriers shows arrestor systems. Nor is there being any mention that the ship has one. I think they may have cancelled it together with the catapults. They didn't need it anymore after the decision was taken to go for the F-35B.

Well...that is a very good point.

The QE will certainly have the Ski-Jump, so it is definitely not going to be Vertical Take-off.

The RN is also planning to do a short landing procedure, where the aircraft comes in with the aft nozzle partially deflected and they do a short landing roll, so it will not be vertical landing either for the fixed wing aircraft.

At the same time, I do not believe they plan any kind of true arresting systsem...though with the kind of procedure I just mentioned, they should have a barrier available just in case.

So, I do not categorized as VTOL becuase for the F-35Bs they do not plan to use vertical take-off or vertical landing.

At the same time, the arresting system will have no cables or hooks, but may have a barrier.

I think they are closer to STOBAR than VTOL, however the "BAR" part may not apply. So maybe they will be another hybrid...so maybe call it a:

STOLCAR for "Short Take-off and Landing Carrier"

I suggest QETOL (Queen Elizabeth Take-Off and Landing) :)
