That ship definitely needs ski-jump . :D
Not going to happen.

Like other US large deck amphibious assault vessels, she will embark a squadron of strike fighters. F-35Bs and they will do a take-off runs from amidships.

She is also set up to be a sea control carrier without doing air assault at all, and carry 20 F-35Bs in the mode. She has no well deck, instead, a larger hanger.

She just needs an Osprey AEW variant, and an Osprey ASW variant and she would be even more effective in that role.

At 45,000 tons, she is a large vessel.

The notional airwing targeted by USN during the late Cold War - never fully attained - was 24 heavy fighter (f-14A/B/D) 12 heavy strike(A-6E/F), 24 dual role strike/fighter (F-18C/D) 4 AWAC, 12 fixed wing ASW (S-3), 12 multipurpose helicopter, 4COD, for a total of 92 aircraft.

That probably represents the limit of versatile airwing size that could be permanently supported on a Nimitz sizes carrier.

I agree with your post.

This is what we had aboard America in 1981. 90 aircraft all told...if you count the missing the missing Bu numbers. Trust me there were aircraft there.

Honestly, the E/A-3B..there were seldom two aboard. And my squadron VS-33 kept 2-3 aircraft in Diego Garcia to assist with COD runs and to make more space available aboard America.

The page I got this from is by no means an official USN page.

I know it won't happen but it's a shame , because ski-jump would increase payload and range of F-35B . As you said , ship has no well deck (although future vessels from that class may include one ) so there is no drawback in having ski-jump .

We haven't seen any pics of the CdeG/USS Truman joint deployment so it has yet to happen I guess.

Speaking about "joint ops" I stumbled upon this:

An AH-1W Super Cobra assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 266 (Reinforced), 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), flies by a French SA 330 Puma helicopter on the flight deck of the USS Kearsarge, Sept. 22, 2013. The 26th MEU is part of the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet area of operations as part of the Kearsarge Amphibious Ready Group, serving as a sea-based, expeditionary crisis-response force. The group is capable of conducting amphibious operations across the full range of military operations. The MEU acts as a force multiplier, directly supporting CJTF-HOA’s mission of ensuring peace and stability in the region. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Sgt. Christopher Q. Stone, 26th MEU Combat Camera/Released)

A Russian video on the development of the Admiral Kuznetsov with English subtitles. It should be noted that the Admiral Kuznetsov and the Liaoning (Varyag) hulls are different. They are both Admiral Kuznetsov class and are considered sisterships. But the Admiral Kuznetsov hull is known as Project 1143.5 and the Liaoning (Varyag) is known as Project 1143.6. The difference between the two is perhabs comparable with the difference between the Admiral Gorshkov with the other Kiev class carriers.

navyreco, any idea where the CdeG was in port when the photos were taken? thanks!

This is Djibouti port. The French CVBG often stops there

From French mod:
From 7 to 10 December 2013, CVBG led with Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea the first bilateral exercise its mission called "White Shark". Vessels constituting the battle group then joined those of the Task Force 465, operating in the framework of the European operation against piracy "Atalante" to patrol the Gulf of Aden and participate in securing strategic waterways.

At the same time, a live fire campaign for Rafale and Super Etendard on board the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle was performed in Koron, west of Djibouti from 13 to 18 December 2013.

After 600 flights during the first month, this stopover allowed to conduct technical interventions on different aircraft. It also ensured the support of the group's vessels, but also supplies of food and fuel.

Talking about a packed/jammed deck... these older classes had no below deck hangar ?
