I know Reuters isn't the best article but I'm trying to search as much as I can on this deployment but can't find any pics or any other news

I guess we will have to wait for more but this is HUGE!

Do we know where exactly in the SCS the Liaoning CVBG (ah it feels so good to write that) will exercise? Because not the entire SCS is under dispute, it is a wide expanse of water after all.

I can't help the phrasing of that reuters article is purposefully being provocative.

Don't get all in a tizzy..they have only three J-15s..however the fact that they have deployed is very interesting..let's see what shakes out.

Also, Manuevering trials when they hit their top speed this year after the repairs from last year's failed attempt.

Great videos. I'm looking for their full night time take-offs and landings which they conducted.

PHILIPPINE SEA (Nov. 28, 2013) The George Washington Strike Group and Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force ships participate in tactical maneuver training during Annual Exercise (AnnualEx) 13. AnnualEx 13 is designed to increase the defensive readiness and interoperability of Japanese and U.S. Naval forces through training in air and sea operations

A US nuclear powered super Carrier, a Japanese DDH, Hyuga Class carrier, 19 surface combatants, and two AOR vessels. Probably a couple of SSNs that we cannot see.

That's a very powerful force right there....and present in the Philippine Sea while the PLAN group is entering the South China Sea.

No confrontation meant, desired, or at all likely...but both sides are showing off their big sticks.

Still not as big as the following picture which contains 26 warships

I see CVN-73 plus both Hyuga Class flat tops from the JMSDF and one Osumi Class that's four flat tops plus two submarines and scores of Arleigh Burke Type DDG from both JMSDF and USN

Shows the readiness of the JMSDF who can put to sea both LHD together, when the two larger Izumo Class are commissioned I would not be suprised if they put to sea all four flat tops plus a few more Osumi Class flat tops

A very large naval Amanda taken during Keen Sword 2013

Ahh... I gotta do some research on this photo. I think it is photo shopped. Flight ops are generally secured during a sea state such as pictured.

the aircraft pictured,E-2C Hawkeye, belongs to VAW-123 Screwtops. They are a member of CVW-1 which was deployed aboard Enterprise last year.
