What Carrier did they bury Bin Laden's body on? I am very curious.

They didn't bury his body on it - they merely used it to transport the "salt fish"(canto slang for corpse).
I don't think they will want to bury it on a ship...not too interesting to be living in cabin knowing the quarter next door is haunted by Bin Laden's ghost, making strange noises or messing around with the equipment for running the steam cats lol

WASHINGTON (NNS) -- Osama bin Laden received a Muslim ceremony as he was buried at sea, a senior defense official said in Washington, D.C., May 2.

The religious rites were performed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) in the North Arabian Sea and occurred within 24 hours of the terrorist leader's death, said the official.

"Preparations for at-sea [burial] began at 1:10 a.m. Eastern Standard Time and were completed at 2 a.m.," said the official.

The burial followed traditional Muslim burial customs, and bin Laden's body was washed and placed in a white sheet, said the official.

"The body was placed in a weighted bag. A military officer read prepared religious remarks, which were translated into Arabic by a native speaker," the official added.

Afterward, bin Laden's body was placed onto a flat board, which was then elevated upward on one side and the body slid off into the sea.

The deceased terrorist was buried at sea because no country would accept bin Laden's remains, a senior defense official said.

Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and Defense Department officials are sure it was the body of bin Laden. CIA specialists compared photos of the body with known photos of bin Laden and said with 95-percent certainty it was the terrorist leader, a senior intelligence official said.

In addition, bin Laden's wife identified the al-Qaida leader by name while the strike team was still in the compound, said the intelligence official.

CIA and other specialists in the intelligence community "performed the initial DNA analysis matching a virtually 100-percent DNA match of the body against the DNA of several of bin Laden's family members," the official added.

Do you think that they'll buy new Harriers or surplus ones. There are some out there since the UK doesn't "need" them anymore.

With the current climate in Thailand, I'm not sure whether there will be any significant hardware procurement in the near future. Nonetheless, the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) has indicated that it is interested in procuring submarines. Afterall, 2 of its neighbours have already procured submarines (Malaysia and Vietnam).

If the RTN indeed procures submarines, I doubt there will be money to procure Harriers any time soon.

The picture of KUZNETSOV was taken, I think, in a Murmansk repair yard, pos. 69 02 25 N 33 04 08 E (where you can see it actually was also in 2005).

The Queen Elizabeth.

Is the Queen Elizabeth actually going to get a FULL air group? Or do the liberal politicians feel that is too expensive, and will gradually be given a full one over time. (Much like the "threat" materialization predictions currently undergoing in the UK halls of politics.) I feel for the British Navy its almost as small as the Brazilian Navy. At least they'll have a carrier and a full air wing that is fully operational. I saw that the Sao Paulo will be operational this year, and her AEW aircraft are on the way.

Furthermore, is it possible for Thailand to acquire ex British Harriers to replace its AV-8S Matadors?

I'm still hoping to see this bird fly off of those RN carriers...and off of the USS America.

How recent is this proposal? From the pictures I think it shows X-32 along with the V-22.. So around a decade or more ago?

Anyway a V-22 AEW would be very potent which goes without saying... The array design looks interesting, I think it's a fixed AESA config with three arrays, like the KJ-2000/phalcon?

It is several years old, but still is talked about...even on the Royal Navy's page about the new carriers to this day. That's why I keep hoping they do it. The US Navy could use them too, as could all of the US allies with VTOL carriers. With the F-35s and the V-22 AEW, all of those carriers would be much more powerful.
