Colombia has taken a firm step in the aviation industry with the construction of its first aircraft, named T-90 Calima in honor of the pre-Columbian town with that name, and that have military use.

The process began in 2009 when the Air Force and the Aviation Industry Corporation Colombiana (CIAC) were challenged to design and manufacture a primary training system for pilots has resulted in an example of innovation.

The production center is a hangar Justino Mariño Cuesto Air Base, located in the municipality of Madrid, in the department of Cundinamarca, where 112 men and women work since then in order to have 25 ready devices later this year.

These aircraft will replace the Cessna T-41 Mescalero and Beechcraft T-34 Mentor, with over 40 years of service, said Lt. Col. Martin Zorrilla, general coordinator of the aircraft factory of the CIAC.

"To date we have built 13 Calimas, 25 to be completed in December this year," said the official, who said that the headquarters of these aircraft is the Air Combat Command No. 7, located in the city of Cali.

Primary trainer designed and built in Peru, named Kuntur

The first plane made by Peruvian hands, intended to train future pilots, presented this afternoon at the Second International Exhibition of Technology for Defense and Disaster Prevention (SITDEF), an event that will bring together 90 companies from 17 countries.

Military exhibition will be opened at 18.30, on the premises of Army Headquarters located in San Borja.
The exhibitors were finalizing all preparations yesterday. Among them was the Air Force of Peru (FAP), which shows the high technological level that has achieved through its operating units as Maintenance Service (Seman).

This unit made the first airplane "made in Peru" with all the advances in aeronautical engineering.
After a year of work, we managed to push through the ship with six hours of flight autonomy, with capacity for two or four people, which can be used for basic training of future pilots of the military.

He was baptized with the name of Kuntur, after the bird that flies the Peruvian Andes.

The Ministry of Economy (SE), the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (Femia) and the National Foreign Trade Bank (Bancomext) are preparing a program to promote the integration of aerospace supply chain through financing plans, which will be directed to tier 1, 2, and 3 aero parts manufacturers whether local or foreign, interested in producing items or offering currently unavailable services. Suppliers of products and specific services, such as high precision machining, heat treatments and non-destructive testing, are required by the aerospace sector, expressed the Femias General Director, Luis Lizcano. Femia is working jointly with Bancomext to develop a financing program appropriate to sectors needs. The program is expected to be disclosed by the second half 2015

Ghana orders Embraer's light attack aircraft
Ghana has ordered A-29 Super Tucano light attack and training aircraft from Embraer, the second African nation to do so this week.

PARIS, June 19 (UPI) -- The Ministry of Defense of Ghana has signed a contract for procurement of five A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft from Brazil's Embraer Defense & Security.

The contract, which includes provisions for logistics support and establishment of an in-country training system for pilots and mechanics, was signed this week at the Paris Air Show.
he deal is the second this week by Embraer for the A-29 turboprop aircraft, which can also function as an advanced trainer. Mali ordered a dozen of the planes.

"We are pleased to welcome Ghana Air Force as a new operator of the Super Tucano, an aircraft that is already consolidated in the global market, expanding our presence in Africa", said Jackson Schneider, president of Embraer Defense & Security. "We are confident that, with this acquisition, the Air Force of Ghana will be equipped with the most appropriate and proven solution to attend its operational needs."

The orders, which included dozens of options for more jets, came from the United Airlines division of United Continental Holdings (

).

Deliveries will begin this year for seven E190s to Colorful Guizhou, the fifth airline flying Embraer's E-Jets in China.

The jets available for short-term delivery highlight the challenge of filling Embraer's backlog, especially for the larger E190 seating up to 114 passengers, before re-engined models begin entering service in 2018.

Embraer's first-quarter earnings suffered as the company had no deliveries of E190 aircraft, which Chief Executive Frederico Curado once called Embraer's "flagship" model.

Embraer continued to book significant demand at the show for its upcoming generation of more fuel-efficient planes, known as E2. Aircastle, which acquires

jets to lease and resell to airlines, ordered 15 E190-E2s and 10 E195-E2s for delivery starting in 2018, with an option for 25 more.

Aside from E2 sales, demand for E-Jets has been heavily concentrated on U.S. airlines upgrading their regional fleets from 50-seat jets to E175 aircraft seating about 75 passengers.

United Airlines ordered 10 more E175s for delivery starting next year, Embraer said, adding that it expected United or one of the other carriers operating flights for United Express soon to convert options for an additional 18 aircraft to firm orders.

Embraer also signed a deal for eight more E175s for SkyWest, which is flying the planes under an agreement with Alaska Airlines. No delivery date was given.

Shares of Embraer rose about 1 percent in Sao Paulo, gaining for the fourth straight session.

The planemaker is in talks with Brazil's Gol Linhas Aereas (

) and Chile-based LATAM Airlines Group LAN.SN for about 20 E195 aircraft each, people familiar with the matter told Reuters. Embraer declined to comment.

Embraer also signed a deal at the show with Mali for six Super Tucano light attack aircraft, to be used for border surveillance, internal security and training.

Mexico and China will jointly Aerospace Studies
México.- researchers and technologists from various Mexican institutions work with their counterparts and Chinese entrepreneurs in aerospace research projects and geospatial information technology, reported the News Agency of CONACYT.

The Director of Evaluation and International Cooperation of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), Arturo Borja Tamayo said the level of development and innovation, as well as its investment in science and technology, China is a strategic partner for Mexico.

"Since we started this administration proposed boosting scientific cooperation with China and a few months ago CONACYT and the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST, for its acronym in English) of the People's Republic of China launched the first call to work together on science and technology, "he said.

In this first meeting between the two institutions made a joint investment of nearly $ 600,000, Borja Tamayo said in an interview with the agency Conacyt.

"We started with a small amount for an economy the size of China, but the idea is that this is a first step and will increase as work progresses for cooperation," he added.

For this first approach, after the visit to China by the Minister of Science and Technology of China, Wan Gang, it agreed to work together aerospace research projects and geospatial information technology.

The call proposals from different institutions of higher education who work directly with China were received.

The projects presented seek to use satellites already in orbit for the characteristics of the Mexican and Chinese territory, which could serve for better utilization of mineral and marine resources, among other applications.

Borja Tamayo said the idea for the coming years is to increase the amount of resources, projects and areas of research and development, to help improve the quality of life and boost economic growth in both nations.

"There is much interest from China to advance the bilateral cooperation and hope that the next call to the resources of both parties to promote more areas of cooperation will increase," he said.

The other areas where Mexico wants to work with China are information and communications technology (ICT), and advanced manufacturing technology.

"China is very strong in ICT, it is transversal technology that has applications in almost every field of science, and the Chinese are well advanced in applying to biotechnology and robotics, among other disciplines," he explained.

The director of the Conacyt stressed that China has developments in advanced manufacturing technology of interest to Mexicans, because like China, Mexico has much manufacturing in the automotive field, microelectronics and aerospace.

It is hoped that this cooperation agreement with China, as well as cooperation agreements that CONACYT has with other nations, Mexico faster progress in scientific and technological development.
