Only place that is viable launching pad for a US land invasion would be Kuwait and Southern Iraq, as the land there would be flat enough for an armored push. But even then when you look at a topographic map of Iran, one realizes what a gargantuan undertaking it would truly be and why every US general worth their salt always advised against it. Its not a game at all and beyond the comprehension of geopolitics hobbyists.

The country is only 300,000 square kilometers smaller than Iraq and Afghanistan combined, incredibly mountainous, has numerous population centers that the US and Israel will have to occupy, with a population that despises them and won't even grant them the "honeymoon phase" that Iraqi and Afghanis gave them during the initial days of both their respective invasions. That's not to mention that even the viable launching point of Kuwait is constantly under drone and missile fire, nevermind the rest of the Gulf if America chose an amphibious invasion. There's been talk of using Central Asia and Pakistan, but of course I doubt any of those countries would grant the US approval to do so. And there's the Caucuses which is a no no for obvious reasons.

This is an operation that to be safe and drawing from the lessons of Russia's Ukraine war will need an invasion force of roughly 1 million personnel. For reference, America currently has roughly 600,000 enlisted combat troops spread across the globe. NATO is unsympathetic, Gulf troops would be useless, mercenaries can only provide 50,000 at most so the invasion force would be 100% American. Meaning a draft would have to be imposed, which would be incredibly unpopular.
So you think US might attack the west border, once cleared go into the Karg island from land instead of strait?

If the US is actually seizing Iranian territory on the mainland I would think they would have way bigger ambitions than just simply occupying Kharg Island, which will if assaulted either be via helicopter or landing ships. But I still think the rhetoric on Kharg is just propaganda to make Trump sound smart and strategic. All this talk on Kharg island and people overlook the fact that its home to small city with 9,000 people, so this isn't a Snake Island situation at all. Capturing won't just mean control of the refineries, the US will also have to police the populace.

Even if US Marines capture it, they'll be under constant drone and artillery bombardment from the Iranian Mainland and supplying them via Kuwait would be a pain. Plus its not like Kharg has any value as a springboard for further amphibious incursions into Iran, capturing it is a nuclear option to permanently cripple Iran's oil sector. But considering Trump's anger, which I do think is genuine, at Israeli strikes on Iranian refineries, I don't think the US is willing to cross that line since it would probably make oil shoot past 200 dollars a barrel and not to mention how high it would go once the inevitable Iranian retaliation against all GCC oil infrastructure comes. In short, capturing and occupying Kharg Island would make the Iranian leadership go, "Fine, lets all go back to the stone age together!"

Oil analysts are already talking about $250 dollars per barrel of oil.

My condolences to the former director of counter terrorism impending funeral and immediate cremation shortly after.

Joe Kent served for 20 years. had 11 combat deployments. his wife also served in the military and was killed in combat in Syria.

yet they still come out and try to jail him just because he had a disagreement and believes his country is being dragged into a war by another foreign country.

Mr. bone spurs called Kent "weak" and then he thanks Kent for serving the US by going after him.

Iran launched ballistic missile strikes against industrial facilities in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Iran had previously demanded that personnel at petrochemical plants in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE evacuate immediately. Subsequently, missile strikes were launched against oil and gas facilities in these countries. Iranian media reported that the strikes were carried out in response to Israeli attacks on oil and gas infrastructure in southern Iran.
