Considering those are cooling towers for a steel mill and conventional power plants also have similar towers. That is why you can't automatically make idols out of rich people, many are pretty disgusting people.

Not a fan of Netscape Navigator I see…
IE all the way

I dun know if that will really help the situation. Chinese netizens usually are very encouraging and forgiving these days. Gone are the days of liu xiang attracting online abuse. I won't include the men's football team for obvious reason however, Nowadays if the national team athletes fail, Chinese netizens large majority are very understanding and supportive.

In Zhu's case, it's more complicated, the ire is mostly directed at her supposedly special status and favoured treatment due to her scientist dad. Which some people think robbed a more worthy and talented Chinese skater of a place in the team to give to her for this Olympics. Is there credible evidence in this? I dun know. But it seems this is the root issue.

I have noticed though these accusations happen quite frequently. They just automatically assumed internal politics are behind decisions made about who are chosen to represent the national team. It's hard to argue with them though. I tried.

During the Tokyo Olympics, netizens raged on sports personnel decisions made by the table tennis team, the women volleyball team and men's gymnastic team. I have seen it on weibo.
The Western media just didn't care that time cuz they dun have the story they want.
thanks. I didn't know all that.

But to me this is much simpler. She is a 19-year-old Chinese girl. NO ONE in today's world can bully a 19-year-old Chinese girl. that's all there is.

If someone has problem with the selection process, they should take it up with the CCP. They are the ones making the call.

I hate people who are nobody in real life but acts like they are the justice or someone who should run the world. They should f*cking grow a pair and talk tough to people their size.

Anyone bully a teenage girl online deserves to be put in a real concentration camp. And I will go back to China and be their warden.

To put what Eileen Gu is possibly facing or will face back in the land of the free and home of the brave I am posting this essay written by an American athlete of Korean descent, an Olympic Champion in her own right, Chloe Kim. She wrote how her experience growing up fully accepting the American exceptionalism dogma it seems there's a limit placed upon people like her that can't be eliminated regardless of effort. Asians must repudiate who we are, our culture along the way to be seen or fully be accepted in the culture and countries that can never seem to see us one.

Fake news:
USA is the Greatest country

Real news:
"Kim also said she fears for her parents because many of the recent attacks against Asian Americans have been against older women and men. "Every time my parents step out the door, I think maybe I won't see them again or maybe I will get a call from the hospital that they were attacked," Kim said. "I'm scared all the time.""

You can't reason with faceless hordes. The best recourse is to simply silence them.

People of these "advance" nations /s can't get it into their brain that the olypmics is just a bunch of entertainment courses to perform events...like you can make a skating rink in Florida duh, it doesn't have to be in New York and open only in the winter. Its also not a remote mountain survival course...
Why did they pick this strange location to begin with? There are much better locations in Beijing city itself or up on the slopes to the north next to other venues.

The same writer that rolled out the same USAGM talking points (HK, Xinjiang, Tibet, Peng Shuhai) on her Gu write up. Trying to make up for it?

I thought it looked really cool.

one of the coolest things in China's urban development is turning old industrial parks into various city parks. I thought it was one of really awesome developments. I can't wait to visit some of them.
