I do see Xinjiang 2034 Winter Olympics incoming. Birthplace of human skiing, perfect place for Winter Sports.Why not have China bid for another Winter Olympics? Seems like a lot of fun!
Or Tibet Winter Olympics just to rub it in but the altitude's too high, China will win all the medals for that one.

some people were asking why Eileen gu is being singled out when there are so many other Americans/Canadians who "defected" to team China. It got me wondering too. there so many naturalised players for the Chinese ice hockey teams for men and women. No one cared.
Nina zheng did it already in summer Olympics in heptathlon and made history.
but there was almost zero fanfare and controversy . Her brother will be playing for mens ice hockey team later.
Zhu yi , the figure skater born in US also representing China now. I actually think she looks more photogenic than Eileen.
And no one is making a fuss. Well at least in the west. some people on Weibo are attacking her, she just made a mistake and fell during her short program. Not sure why there are negative comments. Something to do with her famous scientist dad who worked in US? Anyway that's another story.
I guess American media is targeting Eileen gu cuz she is a threat for the gold so it means they lost an asset to China and it hurts. The others who "defected" aren't as big a medal threat. When it comes down to it, it's just about results and medals for them.
