Exactly, China needs to break the Western monopoly on global social media. Tiktok was a good first step, but too spineless to make any real changes. Can't rely on any of the current giants like Tencent as they only know how to compete in the Chinese market. We need a new player to disrupt the current scene.
Not far enough, Tiktok still relies on the App store platform (be it Google Play or Apple itunes store etc) which are still American platforms... so it can be effectively shutdown by an EO at anytime

China ultimately needs to have its own independent full stack, from semiconductors up, to include firmware, operating systems (Huawei Harmony OS is a start) and app store platforms (Huawei app gallery and others) all the way to the prominent apps themselves...

An worldwide alternative to the likes of Gmail and YouTube and Twitter and etc

Unfortunately that’s never going to happen unless there is a major restructure of how data, money, and security are handled in Chinese internet and social media infrastructure. To put it gently, it’s hard to interface with anything outside of China.

It's sad to see South Korean politicians stoking anti-China sentiments to support their own election campaign. I guess SK learned a lot from Trump and the USA..
Extremely irresponsible behaviour. But that is what adversarial multiparty democracy leads to. Any one of those two candidates who mention that China has ethnic Korean citizens and the Hanbok was showcasing their culture would suffer immensely in the polls due to the highly stoked anti-China atmosphere of South Korea at present.

most unwelcoming Olympic Games
China’s human rights abuses
a success only because they were not an abject failure. The closed-loop fortress worked
But at what cost?
This wasn’t a joyous festival of sport; this was a forbidding fortress
devastating quarantine isolation of American athletes
troubling saga of three-time Olympian Peng Shuai
Will Russia and its state-sponsored doping system ever be taught a lesson?

Canada sent a delegation of 200 athletes, including kids from the small town I live in, plus all the coaches and support staff.

Now they're gonna come back and read these kinds of headlines. As will their families and friends, who no doubt have heard about an entirely different experience.

Wonder what all those people will think about their supposed free media?
Thought you're in the 6ix area eh... No need to say where you at exactly.
