The Olympics like the UN, like Twitter, like Chess were started by the US/West to showcase Western/Anglo/American supremacy... everyone else got the "privilege" to participate because otherwise USA would be lonely at the top, being number one had more meaning when you have everyone else falling behind you...
The moment China starts overtaking in Olympics, or in the UN, or in the propaganda wars on Twitter, etc and figuratively starts winning the Chess game, the US will just changes the rules of the game, or how its scored, and failing that it will just flip over the chess table citing that it owned the Chess sets.
Does anyone think if China got successful enough on twitter with a vocal following that the US gov or CIA wouldnt just order a blanket purge of all pro-Chinese voices on the American controlled platform starting with the more prominent Chinese voices first?
I hope Eileen continues to play for Team China at the next Olympics. But if she changes her mind, that's okay too. It's her decision and she has the right to play for whichever team she wants. It's cool either way.
It was such a failure that over 2000 athletes decided to stay for the closing ceremony, a new Winter Olympics record. They anticipated 600 would attend but so many people loved Beijing so much that they decided to stay.
