You can thank NZder Nico Porteous beating the U.S in winIng the half pike freestyle thus preventing the U>S from overtaking China. An increased order for agricultural products in the next few months would be nice.
We also can thank the US themselves for that. Their GOAT alpine skier performed terribly and did not finish in 2 of her events and far from the podium places for the others. She was supposed to be hot favourite for the events she was in.

Hope I didn't jinxed it though. I think she is still in the team event at the final day.

The reporters isn’t wishing Bing Dwen Dwen to be ranked last (I’d have to murder them for that), they’re simply saying that it would be interesting to see how bad the one ranked last actually looked/was.

To clarify, this might re-wording make their point more clear:

(It’s truly a shame we never get to see the submission to the mascot competition that was ranked dead last.)
Now that you mentioned he could meant this but phrased it very poorly so people misunderstood. Really nasty human being if he really meant to diss BDD.

I agree, the wording in the article was:

Though an exact translation is a bit slippery, “Bing” is most commonly a reference to ice, and “Dwen Dwen” often refers to lively and/or chubby children. Bing Dwen Dwen was judged the best of 5,800 global submissions. (It’s truly a shame we never get to see the mascot ranked dead last.

Apparently, the dead last was meant the last submission of the 5800.
