I'm totally fine with Eileen Gu's personality and all that, but you link her personality to Trump's? Come on!
Hence I said some people might be upset about this. But Trump’s personality is actually very common in America. It comes primarily from affluent business people style upbringing and Eileen Gu is raised in the same environment.

Eileen Gu's personality does reflect a lot of American ones, I totally agree and think that's good for the new-generation of Chinese. That said, Eileen Gu's upbring is very different from Trump's, a real estate mogul one from New York City with its brashness and brutishness. Eileen Gu is more of an outgoing, cheerful, direct and self-confident one, a good combination of qualities that is atypical in China.

Short answer: No.

The video is a pretty good, objective explainer. It's worth a watch.

Issues explored/summarised:

FBI "burner phone" advisory more projection than actual hacking risk from China since US govnt is notorious for hacking devices domestic and abroad by acquiring Israeli spyware firm to achieve just that;

My2022 app already passed stringent security checks and approval processes by major app stores like Apple App Store and Google Play Store;

Host interviews actual firm that provides real time voice translation for My2022 app;

Concerns of conversations being recorded and uploaded unfounded as user's own phone OS would notify if this is happening anyway;

Athletes have free choice of what apps they use and share data with. Prime example: TikTok, though Chinese-owned, has become the social media app of choice for US athletes. It's so popular that NBC opted to collab with the app for their Olympics coverage.

This may upset some people here but I think one of the reasons that Eileen Gu triggers so many people is that her personality shares similarities to that of Donald Trump. Let's not kid ourselves here. When confronted with aggressive and unfriendly questions or abusive reporting she fights back in very trollish manners. "Uneducated people who won't win any Olympic medals", if you really think about it, is just a nicer, more eloquent way of calling her critics "losers".

Trump supporters don't like to be on the receiving end of this sort of abuse.

Ehhh... I don't know about that, the defining characteristics of Trump isn't that he's combative, it's that he does it in a vulgar and crass manner.
