So China still has 2 TT golds, likely 3 more in weightlifting, likely 4 more in diving and maybe 2 in badminton,

Relatively high confidence of 30 golds, which is around what was expected

Should be a stable top 2 but will it will be enough to overtake the US?
There are now lots of pesky competition in diving these days. Probably some more golds in rowing and trampoline.

I am surprised by high medal counts from both China and Japan. I would have expected Japan to cannibalize some medals from China since they are strong in broadly similar sports. Other east asian countries are also making strong showings, with multiple countries getting first gold medals or first medals. I can't confirm, but logically the medal collapse should be coming from Europe/North America.

It wouldn't be surprising if China came 1-2 with Japan considering what we have seen so far, I'm more intrigued by the possibility US might only come 3rd.

Japan did "cannibalized" China medal especially in gymnastic, but unexpected golds in swimming made for the different in the expense of USA. Now back to gymnastic as recent controversies of favoritism from judges link of the report

, have not verified it personally, but if this is true, "India's system" has sipped into Olympics, what is "India system" ? a system that is based on "know who" not "know how". Live in Indian you will know what I mean. Olympics should do away with score based on judges as there certain aspects of biasness and politics.

Japan is winning mostly in categories where judging is important. They won like 8 Judo medals or something. Brazilians and Russians are complaining about it being rigged.

Skill is skill no? ;)
Btw, US under Trump admin added Islamic Revolutionary Guard of Iran as "terrorist" organization in 2019 and removed ETIM (East Turkestan Islamic Movement) from "terrorist" organization in 2020 (contradicting United Nations). So this Korean bootlicker should know what is a "terrorist" is a matter of biased US perspective and wherever they want to topple or destabilize.

View attachment 75369Economist: we are mad cause Russians are beating us. LOL

"Russian Taipei" gets no sympathies from me... As @manqiangrexue mentioned, These old Soviet doping crooks is the reason IOC might ban weightlifting (China's cash cow) from future Olympics. Individual doping is bad enough, but systematic state manipulation of doping results is even worse.

I watched the match too. China was leading by 6 points at the last minute or so, only to see it erased by Australia's 2 3-pointers. With 0.6 secs left, it was 2m Li Yu Ru's 2 points from the free throws that saved China from extra time.

Btw, what happened to Australia's star player?

Outsiders are not sure. Theres alot of media speculation around it. But there is definitely some friction between her and basketball Australia. She withdrew just before the OG saying mental health reasons. before this she criticized the Aus authorities for having too many white faces in their OG promo photo shoot. Then there is this mysterious incident with the Nigerian basketball team. All in all its a clusterFeck. Seem like Bogut the bigot is going after her.
