Kinda having withdrawals now that the Olympics are over. The 16 days been really fun to catch the games and the spectacle and following up with people's reaction on weibo. I know most will not agree with me but really like watching the Olympics lol. Maybe more than even the world cup.
Thanks goodness they are over; I am all Olympics' out! I've gotten 4 hours of sleep every day for the last 2 weeks watching them. I'm a zombie at work. 3 years is too soon. I need my sleep.

Same. I was obsessed with watching as many events as I can. But I'm in a better time zone so I get more sleep. I had three screens on at same time usually. My TV, laptop, and ipad lol.

The fact that ALL these Olympic sports are invented and native to US or Europe.....(except Taekwondo and Karate) and China matched US in gold despite a 45% smaller team size....I count this as a success! For example, China doesn't have a native sport like Epee, Wrestling, Fencing, Baseball, Softball, Skateboarding, Boxing, Karate, Judo, Taekwondo, and all these other sports which are hugely advantageous to nations with centuries of experience...

Swimming is where the medals are at. A single person can win more medals in swimming than entire nations combined.

Good job China! Now onto EUVs and more babies please.

I don’t think the Americans or Europeans invented swimming or running!
And, if you ask white-racists, spear-chucking (Javelin-throw) was invented by Africans!
Some form of boxing and wrestling have been practiced by almost all civilizations.
Horse-riding originated in Central-Asia.

It was the Chinese who invented football over 2000 years ago, but modern association football format was codified in 1800s by Britain.

I'm saying Europe and US had over 200 year advantages in many of these sports that virtually do not exist in China until the past few decades really. It's damn impressive that China can catch up so quick, so fast, and so powerfully.

Just imagine how much better China can do if Chinese Wushu is an Olympic sport. It's like a free gimme dozen golds right there.

I knew what you were suggesting. I wuz just clarifying that no one culture has any monopoly on athletics, in general. Western nations have emphasized athletics since the times of the original Olympiad and this is one Western practice from which many nations could benefit.
I think that swimming and running, up to 800 m, should be required components of all nations’ college-preparatory education.
