No it doesn't; it gave them up 20 years ago. A quick Google search should tell you everything you need to know.

Let me help Lezt ;-)

While his post was erratic, it points to the problem: the deal (I mean

) "... included security assurances against threats or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of Ukraine ..." but THAT'S IT: no military (army-to-army) convention included! In Central Europe, we found out about military conventions, or lack thereof, but I can't go into details so that this post doesn't get deleted :)

was allegedly sank this night; the article links to google maps directly, but I hope it's not a hoax, as "the ultimatum" which expired almost 40 hours ago :)

Jura, you need to to a better job of punctuation. Your post run together at times.

In another forum members questioned what sort of US forces were in the region.

My answer;

George H.W. Bush Carrier Strike Group is deployed in the eastern Mediterranean as of this moment. They may still be in port in Piraeus/Athens GR.

Navy Today said:
The Russian Navy Ochakov Kara-class cruiser was sunk last night to block the Ukrainian Navy ships deployed in Novoozerne, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence said in a press release today.

The information was confirmed by the Ukrainian military of the South Naval Base who were observing the operation.

The RF ships blocking the Ukrainian ships in Donuzlav lake in the Crimea left the zone at 23.30 p.m. (March 5).

Then, the Russian military towed their ship Ochakov to the navigating channel and filled her with water. Then, there was an explosion. The depth in this area is 9-11 m, it is possible now to observe the upper part of the ship. Therefore, the ships cannot leave the Donuzlav lake. It is needed a lot of time and costs to refloat this ship, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense

Ochakov was stationed in the Russian Black Sea Fleet as of 2011, however it has not been operational since the early 2000.

In 1961 the Donuzlav Lake was connected to the Black Sea by inlet, in fact turning the lake into the bay of the Black Sea. It is the largest lake of Donuzlav Tarhankut group of lakes and the deepest lake in the Crimea and in Europe.

The Russian ship Ochakov has been inactive since around 2000. it is an old cruiser from the 60s and 70s.

Interesting. I wonder of the Russians did this to free up their vessels to go to sea since US vessels are entering the Black Sea. Probably not going to be too many ships...and probably there as a symbolic statement. I doubt seriously that the entire Bush battle group will go in there. I think that the largest warship that the Turks will let through by treaty from a non-Black Sea nation is 13,000 tons.

As to nuclear armed states. The Ukrainians signed a treaty with the US, the UK and Russia several years ago to give up those weapons left over after the fall of the USSR. The US and others oversaw their dismantling. In exchange, all three of those nations signed the treaty to guarantee the borders of the Ukraine and her security.

Worthless piece of paper. The Russians violated it by invading, the US and U are violating it by not protecting.

But, the point is that the Ukraine is not nuclear armed.

As to the vote by Cimea...everyone saw this coming and we have been talking about here on this thread from the beginning. Crimea will either be completely autonomous, independent, or a part of Russia...seeking Russian protection. it's not going back.

Finally,

Shen...CUT THE NEO-NAZI stuff. Stop looking for neo-Nazi articles to post here.

It is a meaningless movement of a few radicals, who are more likely than not agent provocateur so that propaganda points can be scored.

Let's stick to the pertinent, impactive facts. As already indicated, the Ukranian Christian Churches and Jewish synagogues have already written a letter to the world showing support for Kiev.

It’s been a strange week for RT, the state-owned Russian news agency.

On Tuesday, on-air anchor Abbi Martin criticized Russia’s occupation of Crimea. And then on Wednesday, fellow anchor Liz Wahl announced that she was quitting the network in protest.

“As a reporter on this network, I face many ethical and moral challenges,” Wahl said at the end of Wednesday’s 5 p.m. ET broadcast. “Especially me personally, coming from a family whose grandparents ... came here as refugees during the Hungarian revolution — ironically, to escape the Soviet forces.

“That is why personally I cannot be part of a network funded by the Russian government that whitewashes the actions of Putin,” Wahl continued. “I’m proud to be an American and believe in disseminating the truth, and that is why, after this newscast, I’m resigning.”

Many are praising Wahl’s on-air resignation. But at the same time, it’s fair to question Wahl’s sincerity. RT mocked Wahl’s comments in a statement:

“When a journalist disagrees with the editorial position of his or her organization, the usual course of action is to address those grievances with the editor, and, if they cannot be resolved, to quit like a professional. But when someone makes a big public show of a personal decision, it is nothing more than a self-promotional stunt.”

After all, didn’t she know she was working for a state-owned news agency from the beginning? And if she objected to the network’s editorial stance why did she continue working there for more than two years?

Wahl addressed such criticism in an interview with the Daily Beast on Wednesday. “When I came on board from the beginning I knew what I was getting into," she said, "but I think I was more cautious and tried to stay as objective as I could.”

However, now she tells the Daily Beast, “It actually makes me feel sick that I worked there. It’s not a sound news organization, not when your agenda is making America look bad.”

Miss Liz Wahl's resignation speech on RT. I watch RT from time to time. RT isn't necessarily lying about what is happening in America or the world but is just the kind of story they choose to do in America and using a very accusing tone with it. You can call it propaganda if you want. But in my view its not much different than what the BBC, CNN or even my local media is doing when covering Russia, China or Iran etc. Its biased but its just biased from the other side.
