To be perfectly clear, it's a reflection of possible differences in our opinions towards where 688i stands in worldwide standards for nuclear submarines in his mind. I have seen some rather generous interpretation of what constitutes "international leading level" within the Chinese defense circle, although I'm not insisting that's necessarily what He Lin thinks (we simply don't know).

So until more evidence surfaces, that's how I interpret his statements.

Wait, I'm confused, in He Lin's original statement did he mention 688i or any other submarine in any form?

Or putting it another way, is there a reason why we would expect He Lin to believe that 688i's noise level is at the "international leading level" either for today, or for the world of 2025?

No, clearly, he did not. If he did, we wouldn't have this much discussion.

If there is still any confusion, I suggest we just leave it like that because any further discussion will become meaningless. I've said enough about this subject and thought my opinion was abundantly clear, any differences in opinion aside. His were some vague statements. That's all.

No problem, though the reason I insisted on this matter a bit is because to me, the idea of 688i being called international leading standard for SSNs either today or in 2025 is like calling F-15C international leading standard today or in 2025.

The development of this boat lasted for five years. It adopts shaftless pumpjet and is more advance than today's mainstream pumpjet propellers.

Sorry, but this is nowhere near a confirmation. In fact, it's a re-hash of a few different rumors: the shaftless pumpjet, the commissioning of a new 093B submarine, and the interview with Prof. Ma; these rumors have been reported by many "news" agencies in the past and does not represent reality in any way.

No, not really. It's a conflation of a few different recent developments: the development of IEPS and shaftless pumpjet from Ma Weiming's interview and the launch/commissioning of a new type of nuclear submarine (rumored to be 093B), and is no evidence that the two are related in any way.
