Otter is claiming the 093Bs and 095s started construction at the same time.

Not surprising, given the indications we have since a few months ago. It's time anyway.

Also, I don't think we should be surprised if the 093Bs continues production run alongside the 095s for this upcoming 5YP period (if not until the next 5YP period).

Mid 2022 was the first launch, construction should've been on going for a while at that point.

It could be, but theoretically speaking assuming they intend on building more 093Bs, the 9th one should already be launched by now if we were to consult previous timeline. For 2023 to 2024, the first boat of the year was launched during Jan-Feb while the second boat was launched during July while the last boat would be launched sometime in Oct/Nov. This year the first boat was launched in Feb as expected but its mid August now with no sign of the 9th boat. Perhaps the rumors of only 8 93Bs were ordered was true.

First ships of a class usually takes longer to launch than old hullforms. There is probably going to be a launch in at most 1-2 years I guess, but probably not now.

Its just that we can mostly confirm 095 has been underconstruction for a good while

I see, so launching or even confirmation of 095 already launching should be close at hand. How long did it usually took for a 093B from laying down to launch?
Also, what about 096 boomers and 094As? Are 096s already under construction as well/in parallel?
Probably my questions are rather newbie-ish, but i haven't followed the subject closely to date and wiki is probably not the most accurate/up to date source.

Well the launching barge moved and is under the sub, so definitely a new boat I think. If it is indeed #9 that's a bit better than 3 per year since the 1st launch in May 2022.

I thought there were 9 093B confirmed already not 8..?

The initial rumors/claims on the 093B SSN (from pop8, most likely) is that the (first) batch will have 8 units in total. Given that we most likely have visuals established on 8x 093B SSNs being launched at Huludao by now, this means that all units of the 1st batch should already be launched.

And similar to any serial-produced PLAN warships that are constructed in batches, it is pretty normal for sighting gaps that are longer than gaps between units within the same batch to occur between the last unit of the preceding batch and the first unit of the subsequent batch, as the procurement order from the PLAN may have just arrived at the shipyards and their associated yards/workshops, and/or that work is still underway at the construction of the individual components and modules prior to assembly.

This has been the same for the 052D/DG DDGs, 055 DDGs and 054A/AG FFGs since the mid-2000s. Hence, people shouldn't be taken aback by the seemingly lack of new boats (whether that be the 9th 093B or the 1st 095) coming out of Huludao at this time.

TL; DR - Be patient.
