That's a question I've wondered about for many years. I assume the major nuclear powers can tell where an ICBM is headed; if so, does China launch if the US and Russia have started an exchange? I don't see why they would, but who knows.

A flush rail for sailors to latch a harness into while working on deck at sea. With subs sitting so low in the water, the deck often sloping due to the cylindrical cross hull section and poor sea keeping on the surface, there is a markedly elevated danger of going overboard compared to other types of vessel. The rail and harness are not being used here because the boat is in port.

From my own observations on Sentinel in recent weeks, the transfer barge moved from the harbour wall back into its space in the dry dock but this was then emptied. However, it is now full again but the barge is still in place.
