Heh, the JL SLBM seems a little too large for the SSBN on the magazine cover.
A new photo of what may be the Type 093B, the upgraded variant with 24 VLS-borne cruise missiles (note the distinctive hump)

I am not aware of any 093 having VLS cells at all. And I can see nothing on the picture you posted that would indicvate to me that they had added them.
Perhaps on the 095...but we will have to wait and see. And 12 is more likely, though we just do not know yet.
That is a special build of Block V boats on (about 17 vessels from now) to replace the Ohio SSGNs in the mid 2020s. Still a long ways off.24 is a little bit high, but the later block Virginias will feature four Virginia payload modules each which will hold seven missiles each.
Nah, he means SSN.
The rumours for a while there said 093B would be forthcoming and feature VLS for SLCM. And recently there has been significant mutterings about a new SSN with a small hump for a VLS.
Of course, we don't know whether the new submarine is an 093B or 095, and we have no idea about its VLS count.

yes, people assume that just because they saw a hump on a new submarine, that means VLS. The sub in that picture does not look like something with VLS. The only Chinese submarine with VLS at the moment is Type 032.
I don't necessarily believe the sub in that picture has VLS or is even real, for that matter.
But the belief that the new SSN will have VLS is not contingent on whether it has a hump or not. The hump is only mentioned because some recent pictures and rumours suggested the new sub might feature a rather noticeable hump where the VLS sits.
