First Details on Likely Future Type 75 LHD for PLAN Showed Up on China Government Website
The first details on a future landing helicopter dock (LHD) amphibious assault ship for the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) may have emerged on a government website in China.
I have to agree with Asif.

It does seem to resemble the Mistral class. Just from the looks of it, I would say 35K is definitely too heavy for what I am seeing. But this may not be the actual vessel either.

I am going to be a party crasher. :D
I don't see anything new from that article. The model in the article's 2nd picture is the model that was said to be for the Thai Navy, then later offerred to Turkey. It is around 20000t which is similar to Mistral class. Nothing new here.
The first picture is the rendition of the model, so it should be around 20000t too.
The article then said the one for PLAN is about 35000t which is then almost doubled the displacement. So if this statement is true, it can not be in the pictures. We also have heard from some Chinese commetor, one of them is a rear admiral, saying the one for PLAN is around 40000t (close to the 35000t claim).
So the ariticle did not bring up anything new. Not about the displacement for PLAN, not about its layout. What is new though is revealing the engine projects, but that does not reveal the supposed PLAN LHD.
I have to say, this article is just recycling what we all have known.

Well it just shows foreign news sources are just as guilty as when China just inserts any stock footage they find is similar to the subject to supplement their stories. Remember the fishing pole hydrophone footage used by CCTV during the search for MH370 to say it was used to hear the pings of the flight recorder the Chinese said they heard? Western pundits were skeptical the Chinese heard anything with that.

The only thing solid is that they're working on an engine model that has the potential to power large vessels like the future LHD. To go by the Chinese methodology, only when the component systems are in place, we'd then see the main project - the LHD - gets the green light.

Pictures in the article are there for illustration only... (to me it was obvious since both the poster and model were shown during exhibitions in 2014 and 2013... but a different company...) maybe I should have been more clear

I have to say this article brings something new: The order of new engines for a new type of amphibious vessel, information which was posted on a government website.
