They already started repainting the ship. Apparently some of the foam containers used to store equipments caught fire, which made it look worse than it is.

Is this wise? I don't want to sound like a contemptible Western presstitute, but it's not as if cover-ups are entirely alien to China. We don't need some mid-level official deciding "nothing major, nothing to see here, no structural damage, just put some paint on it and it'll be better than new" before there's been a thorough investigation, and then have the ship sink a few years down the line.
They definitely need to practice better safety precautions when operating around flammable material. That said I don't think the damage is as bad as it looks.

I really hope it is not an electrical fire. It is very difficult to trace the extent of damage to your system and an overhaul is very extensive.
On the other hand, I would rather they be thorough and fix all the resultant issues before the chassis goes out to sea, but I fear that this will delay the second one.
