How about the quality ? .. compare to the American ones ?

071 (20k tons) compares very favourably to the austin class (15k tons) and while it doesn't quite match san antonio's size (25k tons), it's quite modern and we can expect it to be a true 21st century warship. I'm not sure 071 incorporates as many of the SA's survivability assets and command and control features but we can't really tell from the outside of the ship.
From wiki, sinodefence and jeff head's excellent size, 071 can carry similar numbers of troops, AFVs and helicopters (possibly even more LCACs than SA).

So the yuzhao class is definitely right up there, and pretty impressive effort considering this is the first LPD china's attempted to build.

Compared to most countries it is quite respectable. Just a few months ago it was a few modules now its distinctly a ship.

One way of looking at this is to look at how fast a particular ship (in this case, the LPD) was being built to completion. This is more specific to knowing the building rate (possibly due to different technology used) than the case where 2 or more of the same type of ship may be built at a slower rate and still end up with a higher production rate just because they're built in parallel.

haven't you seen those earlier pictures of the third Type 071 LPD that are posted in this thread? The 4th one is also taking shape. HD is certainly quite busy with naval ships these days.

Does the GLA transport most of its heavy equipments like these ships or do they rely on their galaxies?

The galaxies aren't large and numerous enough to transport all the needs of the GLA. It has ships already loaded to provide for a need of an invasion already distributed around the world, for example in Diego Garcia.

it was not really missed. Several people noticed the last couple of days that it left the docks, but we did not get any pictures until someone posted it on hsh today.

That is consider slow.. The USA San Antonia class LPD chunk out 2-3 a year. Both LDP 20 and 21 commision in the same year.

They shall build 2-3 hull at the same time to up some projection power quickly.

The US laid the first keel for the San Antonio class in December 2000. Since that time the US has commissioned 5 LPD-17 class ships. Four are under construction at this time.

Hurricane Katrina in August 2005 slowed the construction of the ships because of heavy damage to the Northrup-Grumman shipyard in Pascagoula MS.

Hey Popeye couldn't Northrup-Grumman transport some of the LPD building to the east coast if the shipyard is Pascagoula, MS was damaged by Katrina?
