Hum, the second picture is interesting as it seem to show a similar (if not the same) multi-coloured interior lighting as recently noticed on the Varyag.

I wonder if might be some kind of all purpose lighting system. So you have a choice of light conditions, such as normal for normal operations, and red/green for when the ship needs to be operating under light discipline conditions etc.

近日，南海舰队某登陆舰支队联合某驱逐舰支队、海军陆战队某旅、航空兵某团等兄弟部队，在某海域开展联合登陆训练，探索立体登陆新训法。经过长途奔袭的“昆仑山”舰抵达泛水点。拂晓时分，舰上的广播骤然响起：“登陆部署！登陆兵回原建制，引导组、安全组、解固组就位，开始解固。登陆部门备便艉门、艉跳板，冲锋舟、气垫艇做好泛水准备；航空部门做好舰载机起飞准备！”闻令而动，官兵们快速冲上各自战位。

凌晨5时25分，火力支援队以迅雷不及掩耳之势摧毁“敌”滩头火力点。5时30分，一艘艘冲锋舟从“昆仑山”舰艉大门冲入海中，开始平面输送登陆兵冲击上陆。登陆分队借着海上一层薄薄的雾气，隐蔽接近“敌”岛。随后，搭载着多名登陆兵的大型舰载直升机飞离“昆仑山”舰，向“敌”占岛屿垂直输送突击组。紧接着，伴随着巨大的轰鸣声，新型气垫艇滑出坞舱。调整好航向后，气垫艇开足马力朝“敌”占岛屿岸滩驶去，被白色水雾包裹着的气垫艇像箭一般射向“敌”方……据介绍，这是该型气垫艇首次掠海超越输送登陆兵。

They said this is the first time the No. 3320 LCAC transported troops over sea to landing. They also transported troops from 998 using a large helicopter.

It looks like the 3230 LCAC didn't use troop-carrying module this time, troops onboard were exposed to the elements, so long they wear their ear plugs this shouldn't be too bad I think...

Just trying to confirm this has been commissioned. Can i take the word from Globalsecurity when it also says the 1st one had no Helo capacity?

In late July 2011 China commissioned its second amphibious dock landing warship, the 19,000 ton Jinggangshan, which had been launched in launched in November 2010. Built by Shanghai's Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, the new vessel is the second Type 071 dock landing ship. The 689-foot-long warship can carry 1,000 soldiers, helicopters, armored fighting vehicles, boats and landing craft. The first Type 071 dock landing ship, named Kunlunshan, which had no helicopter capacity, was launched on 22 December 2006 and commissioned into the PLAN South Sea Fleet on 30 November 2007.

Edit: I recall Tphuang had queried an earlier claim of this being commissioned so looking for something solid to turn up.

I'd say she is capable of landing and housing helos. Based on her design and based on the pics which show a large hangar behond those doors and helos sitting on her deck. The 999 will be equally capable. Along with the well deck and amphibious assault, like the US San Antonio class LPDs, clearly these PLAN LPDs were also designed for air assault from the sea.

So global security is talking rubbish. I still remember before 071 LPD commission, people question it saying it can't flood compartment to allow LCAC to move in and out.

Seriously , people who say 071 can't house helo and can't do this and that. Shall go get a life. We are not talking about some special thing LPD is going to perform. All those are just the basic of what a LPD shall do.
