Looks like a standard Type 071 LPD no visible changes on the exterior but that doesn't mean nothing is changed on the inside but we will just have to wait and see even the weapons outfit are looking standard

If that's the case then perhaps China decided not to experiment with any LHDs just yet probably both due to the immaturity of the necessary helicopter designs and the costs involved in having yet another class of large ships.

If they are building these LPDs then it means they are building a ARG of MEU type force, that also means they will need a air group or air component, the LHA/LHD would give PLAN the air component while the LPD would provide the bulk of the ground combat element
The whole lot would need a logistics element to form the whole Marine Expeditionary Unit so far China is about 1/3 or 1/2 way there
In the coming years I hope PLAN can build 3 x CSG and 3 x ARG which means at anyone time they could have deployed 24/7 a single CSG and single ARG somewhere in the world that would be a reasonable force for China and a very powerful force
Only China and USA can afford these types of forces and only they could sustain them over the years for a prolonged period
From Marine Forum it is said that the first 3 type 071 were produced following the 1996 crisis and were very targeted in their design and use. The fourth 071 is called 071G (G is probably chinese for change) and only think currently known is that it will replace H / PJ-13 with M / PJ-14.
I think they will replace the four AK 630 with two type 1130. It seems you can make out a larger ring near where they previously had the middle 630 on the side. Wonder if they will also put a HQ-10 mount facing the rear.
Given that the latest 054A have 1130 upgrade and that this ship came out after this may well be the case. We can also wait to see if the latest 052D also have 1130? Likely from now on they will have 1130 for everything from 054A and above, and use HQ-10 and single barreled 30mm gun for the smaller ships.

As I wrote in my blog, there were plans to include more powerful self defense system, but they ended up with a design similar to early Type 071 to keep cost down.
I think marine forum's post is not particularly accurate. Also, it looks like this batch of Type 071 will not be getting those upgrades that you mentioned.

Latest picture of construction of Type 071 No.4 shows that the hull has now been painted..............things seem to be moving very smoothly with the build of this vessel!
