But...
There is a photo from one of the previously build 071's, which shows that there are some differences from the photo in question.

1st - The New Photo of the Aft Section of a Ship

2nd - A close up of the screw/rudder arrangement on the Type 071 LPD

3rd - A view of the aft end of the Type 071 LPD under construction

Again, it looks like to me that this is either a new 071, an updated one (071A?). or a new vessel of a similar type...perhaps an LHD. As they put these parts together we will get a better idea.

The expectation is that the next amphibious project after 071(A) will be LHA 075.

Anyway, any ideas what'll be in their belly?

We don't even have the exact idea those pieces actually will be, good guess would be 071 LPD and wild guess is 081 LHD. In any case, you need at least 2 months or more to see sections pieced together in certain scale to actually tell what it will be, whereas Chinese New Year is less than a month away, and Chunyun begins at the 26th of this month, so most likely it'll be April at the earliest to see what all those sections are.

Type 081 is still the WOCHI class minesweepers.

LHA reportedly Type 075.

Seems like a type 071. I dont think that this is anything else.

usually when we get a pause in production its down to the fact that a new class is coming out or the first one is a "test and try" production before the learning curve completes

since the 1st Type 071 has been sailing for over 5 years now and 2 more have been built then production has stopped it seems like this would not be a standard Type 071 otherwise the 4 would have been launched straight after the 3rd

therefore this may be a new varient of LPD

however, question is, will China build a Mistral Class LHD or a Wasp Class LHD, if the latter then we are looking for a 40,000 ton vessal, otherwise the standard ~25,000 ton vessal

so there is 3 possibilitys at this stage, another new LPD, a medium LHD or a massive LHD

if it is a LHD then this will be very exciting news, this kind of project will give China experience in building flat tops prior to building full size aircraft carriers
