I agree, the absence of IR suppression structure around the exhaust is a cause for concern, regarding the mysterious panel yes the large one only exist on the starboard side of the rear deckhouse, however smaller ones are visible on both sides of the funnel.

theres lots of modules kicking around, the one directly behind the ship in the first looks like a Type 056 sized module

I wonder if its just the cost of the materials of the ship alone, not including the labor? Then again labor cost in China is still low.
