A little more than three weeks after the previous ship, a corvette new
Type 056 was set afloat in a Chinese shipyard, the 42nd overall. This vessel of 1300 tons full load, with
, crept slowly into the water, December 29, 2016 around 14:00 hours from Shanghai, the shipyard Hudong-Zhonghua.
According to
(德阳) - an ancient town whose history dates back to 2800 BC and located in northern Sichuan province - a delegation of Deyang city hall visited Shanghai to participate in the launching ceremony of the ship, which will bear the name of the city.

Statistically, the frequency of a corvette launched every one and a half months is maintained, and more precisely one every 41 days now, against 42 before. The new order of 10 hulls by the Chinese Navy has inflated the total number of Type 056 to 70.
If the current rate of production is maintained, this will guarantee a little more than 3 years of work to the 4 shipyards concerned.
This means that the Type 056 program will be completed before the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan, and that design offices should already be working on other programs today.
It will also be noted that the Huangpu (Guangzhou) and Hudong (Shanghai) shipyards remain the most active with a corvette out of their dry dock every three months, while seven months are needed for the two other shipyards, Wuchang and Liaonan.
