I see some have quoted from a source that says there are 30 056's commissioned, but from every other source the total is actually 29.
There were 27 056's in the fleet, prior to the recent 2 new commissioning's. Don't know where this ghost ship came from? :)
Anyway, according to Henri.K's build timetable of the 056, we should see some further commissioning's very soon, in which he also claims, based on current forecasts we could be looking at a class total of around 70 vessels.
Exactly 29 it is after i have say... and with China never or almost we have orders ofc, only a time i have see provided by NavyReco right now a total planned of 32 FFGs 054A.

Well, I believe the initial order was for 70...but I also believe they may build more. hey have a lot of coastl patrol duties to replace.

I would no be surprised to see 100 of these before all is said and done.

They don't look at all having cramp living conditions. With the argument that these ships are build sorely for the littorials, I would say in times of war they would indeed be used as escorts together with larger surface combatants. The Canadian build corvettes build to escort convoys in the battle of the Atlantic were much smaller ships that had to operate in heavy seas.

October 28, 2016, the Huangpu shipyard located in southern China has floated the 40th corvette Type 056 for the Chinese navy. Just over a month later, it was the turn of the shipyard Liaonan, in the north, which put in the water the 41st class of ship.

(张掖) - an ancient city in Gansu province that was part of the Silk Road - a delegation from the town hall Zhangze visited the naval base Lushunkou Northern fleet, from 6 to 7 December, to participate in the launchable ceremony of the ship, which will carry the name of the city.

And according to the Journal of the Chinese navy, the future crew of the corvette Zhangzecompleted in early November, theoretical training campaign that lasted 53 days. The sailors and officers were given courses in a dozen field as combat systems, navigation, radar and electro ... etc.

This schedule is consistent with what has been observed on other buildings of Type 056, where crews begin preparing for the reception of their ship about 1 year before admission to active duty. Therefore, already we can already anticipate the entry into service Zhangzetowards the second half of November in 2017.

It is not known yet, however, if this corvette is a standard Type 056 version or the anti-submarine warfare variant Type 056A . But it should be noted that this is the third corvette of this class manufactured in the shipyard Liaonan in 2016.

And we can also see that the four Chinese shipyards involved in the construction of the program have already launched 10 new corvettes Type 056 this year, in addition to export versions and a dedicated Coastguard variant Chinese (the Type 718B ).

Here is the number of all the variants of this corvette of 1300 tons built in four Chinese shipyards program participants -

Type 056 Type 056A C13B To be determined
Hudong Shipyard
(Shanghai) 5 7
Huangpu Shipyard
(Guangzhou) 5 7
Wuchang Shipyard
(Wuhan) 6 2 2
Shipyard Liaonan
(Dalian) 7 1 1
Statistically, the rate of a corvette launching every month and a half is maintained, specifically one every 42 days now. The new order of every 10 cases passed by the Chinese navy has swelled the total number of Type 056-70.

If the current rate of production is maintained, it will guarantee even a little more than 3 years of work for four shipyards concerned.

This means that the Type 056 program will be completed before the end of the 13th Five Year Plan, and that consultancies should already working on other programs today.

Note also that the shipyards Huangpu (Guangzhou) and Hudong (Shanghai) remain the most active with a corvette release of their dry dock every three months, while seven months are needed for the two other shipyards Wuchang and Liaonan.

China's 30th Type 056 Corvette (Jiangdao class) Commissioned in PLAN East Sea Fleet

A commissioning, naming and flag-presenting ceremony of the new Ningde (hull number 510) Type 056 Corvette (Jiangdao class) of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) was held solemnly today at the Xiamen Naval Base (a port city on China’s southeast coast, across a strait from Taiwan). The event means the vessel is officially commissioned to the PLAN. Ningde is the thirtieth Type 056 Corvette delivered to the PLAN fleet.
The vessel is the seventh corvette of the class to be commissioned this year. It joined the PLAN's East Sea Fleet.

, the PLAN commissioned two similar corvettes: Boading (hull number 511) and Heze (hull number 512).

There are currently at least eleven more Type 056A and Type 056 corvettes at various stages of construction in Chinese naval shipyards. One of them (Ezhouare with hull number 513) will likely be commissioned very shortly. The PLAN recently placed another procurement order for ten more corvettes of the class. Therefore, as of today, close to 70 corvettes of this type have been ordered by the PLAN (with 40 hulls launched so far since the start of the programme in 2011).
