582 test fired AShM and successfully hit target.
Is the 056 is available for the export market? I think a vessel like that is perfect for many 3rd world or emerging nations in Latin America, South East Asia, Africa etc or for missions in the littorals for navies like Pakistan, Burma etc.
They will be a good competitor for the MEKO type corvettes and probably a lot cheaper too.
I've made no secret of the fact that I think the Type 056 is a very good OPV design.Pinkov lambasts the 056 as being too small, too slow and too underequipped for any naval engagement, but too powerful for anti-piracy missions...but amazingly, Kanwa has no up-close photos goes with the article.
Not to the exact design of the 056 but in the same size and weight class, yes they do have that.
Though that said, it reminds me of the latest edition of Kanwa, that Pinkov lambast the 056 as being too small, too slow and too underequipped for any naval engagement, but too powerful for anti-piracy missions...but amazingly, Kanwa has no up-close photos goes with the article (or the whole magazine, for that matter)...and yes, Pinkov wasted a whole paragraph to bring out the "illegal copy of AK-176 gun" again.

It's go a decent main gun for it's weight and mission, four good SSMs, a couple of good secondary guns/auto-cannons, a decent anti-aircraft loadout, and decent ASW weaponry for operating in the littorals, particularly with an ASW aircraft assigned to it.
In the littorals, and on coastal patrol, or particularly around many of the islands in the China Sea (particularly the south China Sea) it is going to be very well equipped for what it is most likey to run up against.
The only thjing I can think of to make it better for that overall mission, would have been to have a hanger so they could service the helo. But, I have no dounbts that the PLAN designers and planning people loked at that, weighed it, and decided that for their purposes and operational plans it would not be necessary.
Anyhow, the PLAN is building them rapidly and they are much needed to replace the older vessels they currently have in inventory doing that job.

pinkov really has no clue what he is talking about when he gets to any kind of analysis.
You know as well as I do that Pinkov is really slacking on the job, especially since he fell for that April Fool trap...
