Ok guys, because there're 216 pics right now and all are high-res photos, plus I got up this morning for this even earlier than I'd for work, I'm really in no shape to select what to post on imageshack...but my vanity self won't allow me to not be the first on the internet to do that, so here's a little compromise:

I set that to public access.

I'll slowly toss away unwanted pics over the course of this week, but if you do want me to post a particular few to be on imageshack, please leave me a quote with the wanted pic(s).

As a bit of self-advertisment, the originals are in Nikon RAW format, 16MP resolution taken with Nikon D5100, if any news service representive wants to buy any originals from me, either PM me here in SDF or gmail me.

Guess what, I made a deal with the Almighty Hisself (at least I think I did) and He was so kind to keep the weather nice and good all till 1430hrs - sharp...as after that, it really pours, as in "blew in your face" kind of pour. Fourtunately, by then I already have stove away my gear inside my army backpack.

Just got home and it'll take time to convert RAW image to JPEG and then filter the few good ones to post. There's a few interior pics, nothing sneaky or classified but I can tell you the interior has no room for UAV unless it's keep on the helideck.

You've seen the 056 up close, how good is the construction quality? What about crew comfort?

Great Photos!

Some interesting thing to note: It appears that the 056 already uses the grid helicopter landing system, similiar to the one Japan urged the French to stop selling to China during the most recent diaoyu island spat.

It seems that China is very fast to absorb and adopt new technologies. Which is great.

Outstanding MwRYum These are some really great pictures of two of the PLAN's latest vessels. Very decent camera work, and great, comprehensive "virtual" tour.

These vessels seem very squared away to me.

Wow! Wouldn't that be great! Wonder when the Liaoning, CV-16, will have an open house like this. Hope MwRYum can be there when they do.

And I wonder why nobody notice the panels that covers the exhaust vents...while the outer side is flat the inner side is a slight pyramid, with the effect of guiding exhaust heat out from the 4 corners. In fact, I did mention something like that during a few short interviews with local journalists, but I guess things of technical nature didn't made it pass the editing stage huh...

Mind you those are very new ships, but in terms of workmanship - at least in terms of the hull treatment, the wielding joints, the smoothness of the superstructure, things like that - are actually pretty good. Crew quarters weren't shown that day, only the commissar quarter and conference room are shown, though the internal pics of the passageways should give you some clue...I am quite fat and was wearing gears that day, yet I can pass through with no trouble.

I gotta say.. I've seem many different navy's ships and without question the PLAN has the most pristine ships I've ever seen. Period. Exclamation point!

Just the new ships or all PLAN crafts?

Think I should say this for the record: the 037-II (pennant no. 773) also on display and when compare the two, the difference in levels of craftsmanship is more than obvious - consider the Huangpu shipyard built both the 037-II and the 056, it's a perfect showcase of 20 years in shipbuilding technology improvements.

And looking at 052C class DDG (DDG 171, launch boat of the class) and later batch of 054A class FFG (like those from 2009 onwards), the improvements are still obvious enough.

That said, we can seriously draw the line from late 2000s onwards...
