Has both 596 and 597 arrived in Hong Kong ? Or is it just one of them.

News said the induction ceremony is for both ships, though the direction seen in the pic means it'd be their aft that greets the visitors once they enter the pier, and the best high ground to take pictures is the helipad that's closer to the main gate.

Will still try to take good pictures if I can.

Still, is it possible for SDF to help apply press pass? I know it's too late by now for this time, but press pass can help to get better pics in future, I reckon. Think I should raise this to webmaster on this one?

Slightly bit of worrying news...

With a typhoon coming close to HK within the coming 24 hours, very likely it won't be clear weather tomorrow...the induction ceremony now going to be 30 minutes earlier, hopefully it'd still within a window of clear skies that comes with outer layer of typhoon - at the very outskirt of the typhoon system, the weather is sunny with no wind, ie. hot as boiling hell.

Hope my lucks hold.

Also, just pics will be enough right? No need for vid? See, while the D5100 I have can do vid, it doesn't perform that well in this department, primary the zoom response can be very slow.

Good luck...and be safe. Looking forward to your pics if you can get them. Will be very nice to see, particularly knowing a member of SD was right there doing it!

Guess what, I made a deal with the Almighty Hisself (at least I think I did) and He was so kind to keep the weather nice and good all till 1430hrs - sharp...as after that, it really pours, as in "blew in your face" kind of pour. Fourtunately, by then I already have stove away my gear inside my army backpack.

Just got home and it'll take time to convert RAW image to JPEG and then filter the few good ones to post. There's a few interior pics, nothing sneaky or classified but I can tell you the interior has no room for UAV unless it's keep on the helideck.
