The ship list is OK, except that ship name GIAN should be JI’AN.

Even though the name Gian is most probably a typo, it could also be explained by dialectal differences. In Jianghuai Mandarin velar stops and fricatives followed by i and ü have not palatalised to become alveolo-palatal sibilants and affricates. Because of this reason, the spelling Gi'an would be partially correct, especially if the author came from Jiangsu or Hubei.

I know you spoke English but I have no idea what the heck you just said. Which is also very ironic considering you were actually trying to explain various differences in spoken languages LOL

Alls you gotta say was some sounds have not made it into the local vernacular.

looking at the mast, there seems to be three surface search radars. is that for redundancy should one break down. Or is one at a particular frequency, and the other 2 in a slightly different band, three seems a lot.

also, a question that displays my igronance, all those vertical whip antennas, are they for vhf communication, or for ECM, or for signal collection and from there to signal analysis

You really can see the "family resemblance" so clearly.
YOu can only give credence to the notion of the 056 class being a derivative based on proven systems from the 054/054a

Nice!

A pic of Type 056, Type 054A, Type 052C and Type 071 LPD would make the day!

Liaoning with an escort group of type 056s would be an amusing photo. :D

But it's certainly amazing the same 76mm main gun on the type 054A sits so snugly on the small bow of the 056. The side by side pic really emphasizes this.
