Thanks.

I have been looking for a much closer and more detailed pic of this weapon system.

It looks like a very good close in defensive system. Proabably not too good againt aircraft or missiles...but certainly against small craft or FACs that come in close. Great for anti piracy, anti-terror, anti-drug, etc. I would have made the barrell longer for the positives that brings, but it is probably not needed given the missions this craft will preform anyway.

Very similar in form and function to the automated version of the US Mk-38 system.

Actually looks more like the Oto Melara Hitrole. I wonder what caliber that gun is though. Looks more like 12.7mm than 25 mm to me especially with the woman there for comparison.

Great start on this corvette that's 10 units we have seen in little over 9 months

A this rate we could see 12 units a year, within 2 years that's 2015 we will have easily 36 of these units

So now I'm thinking if each Vessal has a sailor complement of 50-75 that means more than 2,000 sailors needing trained for a modern warship in under 3 years!!'

That's the entire equivalent of a aircrafts carrier sized of Liaoning

you may be right Asif. 36 corvettes in 3 years is just an amazing achievement, no matter how you look at that. If it cost PLAN roughly $125M (including everything, radar, weapons, battle systems, etc) .. it would just cost PLAN roughly $1.5B a year ... nothing really. Remember, PLA would always get much cheaper price (compared to export price), export price for this baby would be roughly $150M

Regarding sailors .. PLA is famous in excellent training system and also unlimited resources available (money and people who desperately want to join PLAN)

Some of that manpower requirement would be offset by existing crews from vessels that will be phased out like the 037s. So that should help provide each new crew for these vessels with some experienced sailors intermixed.

Actually a 037 subchaser requires more manpowers than a 056 light frigate.
