It almost looks like the 2nd 056 is further ahead now since they are doing retroactive mods to the 1st vessel. I could be wrong but the scaffolding around the exhaust stack on the first vessel, attempt to redo the stack like the 2nd vessel? Seems like the exhaust stacks look the same between the two vessels.

That starboard exhaust has the same plate installed on the 2nd vessel.

Off topic but what dept does Bei Hai Jiu 101 belong to in that second pic?

I think the scaffolding on that first vessel the workers are probably doing some finishing touches and testing.

Bei Hai Jiu 101 is the 16th rescue of this class for China Rescue.

Bei Hai Jiu means Northern Sea/Ocean Rescue.

Thanks!

Yes, but don't you think the two exhaust stacks look the same now? If so, we knew the first vessel had the shorter stack with the chrome/silver pipes sticking out. That's not the case now so did they make mods without people getting pics of it?

You're right I think they did. We didn't see it before because parts probably didn't came in until later.

That'd be weird because you'd have thought that they've it installed before launch, not after that. Either that's a screw-up in the supply chain, or a last-minute revision of the design, thus the delay in the fabrication for that part of the components.

In any case, that might help somewhat in terms of RCS and IR emissions.

Both bow and stack change are last minute mods done after the first two hulls were launched at HD and HP, now all ships will be modified to the new design. Cutting and welding a new bow is easy and mostly cosmetic, but the stack is a lot more complicated, besides adding a section to shield the exhaust pipes, the exhaust angle was changed to direct the gas upward to clear the now taller stack walls.
