What are the capabilities of modern chinese VLS?

Too broad of a question. Be more specific.

Are they currently being quadpacked. Reports of the HT-1E VLS for export mentioned that capability specifically.

Question is asked in the wrong way.

If you want to know whether a quad packed weapons system exists for the PLAN, yes we know of at least one type with confidence for the UVLS -- there is a quad packable MR SAM whose designation we do not know but is sometimes referred to as the 3x5 SAM in relation to its supposed performance.
By now it should be in the last stages of development and testing if not service, but how widely proliferated it is and to what scale the PLAN will procure it eventually, we do not know.
We also do not know if other quad packed or multi packed weapons are in development or not (for either UVLS or H/AJK-16 VLS).

My apologies for the malformed question. And thank you for your answer, it is exactly what i was looking for.

Nanchang performing first live intercept of targets in early 2020s. Average age of crew was 23 and most of them didn’t have experience with live fire missile at the time, so the crew was understandably nervous. But they managed to overcome difficulties and set a record for intercepting all incoming targets for a newly enlisted ship.

As you can see the target drone is flying very low, possibly imitating a sea skimming missile.

I was listening to one of Shilao's recent podcast and he mentioned a large percentage of Nanchang's inaugural crew didn't even come from the Navy. As in they've never been a crew member on ANY ship before. They were however each an expert or experienced operator of something else, say radar systems.

Seems like having at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualifications will become the requirement norm for the joining the PLA going forward, even as lower-level grunts...

How hard or demanding is serving on a warship? How much expertise is needed?

Does anyone know of the different changes between the 1st and 2nd batches?

Nothing rumoured yet that I'm aware of, and based on (blurry) pictures taken at a distance so far, there are no obvious differences yet either.

It's very possible that we may not see any external differences between the batches and if there are changes they would be internal.
