Edited. There must be a short circuit in my brain.
Your claim is that it's possible to catch up to US Cold War levels EXCEPT in carriers. I don't think that's true - I think it's possible to catch up to US Cold War levels INCLUDING in carriers. I fully expect China to field a fleet of at least 15 carriers by mid-century, but reasonable people may differ. What shouldn't be in doubt is that China could.

So I think it's VERY possible for PLAN to catch up with the USN's building records during 1950-1989 in most surface combatant ships during 2005-2044 (except the carrier vessels, they are really too expensive and difficult to build, I don't think it possible for China to build another 12 vessels by 2044).
With 2 known carrier yards? Technically it's probably perfectly achievable, (i.e. starting producing them really fast).
Granted, right now PLAN isn't exactly in a position to start accepting and ordering them faster than they're doing it right now, but for different reasons.

If there is anything we haven't actually seen yet - it's the mass-production of SSNs.

SSN is at a different development stage compared with major surface combatants. They're approximately at the corresponding stage of 051B/052/052B/052C and are not yet ready to go into mass production stage yet (corresponding to 052D). The barrier is obviously technology maturity. That's why we're continuing to see minor iterations of 093's. PLAN is not ready to commit to mass production of the next-gen SSN (095) as yet.

I expect 095 will be ready to launch around 2025, judging from some of the relatively more credible rumors and noises. That's why the building capacity comparison starts to make sense.

No, it's very possible. Whether or not there's the political will is another question.

A few years ago, I specifically made the point at SDF that, if necessary, China can build Liaoning class carriers simultaneously at four shipyards: JNCX, Dalian, HDZH, and Bohai. These shipyards have the facility, capacity and capability to build carriers. Of course, it makes no sense for China to do so. The point was merely to illustrate that China has the capacity and capability.

I was accused by one beloved member (Forbin) as fanboy for saying that. LOL.

I have no idea of the veracity of either of the claims you made as I couldn't care less about US historical shipbuilding capabilities. If I'm concerned with anything of America's, it's its present and future capacities. Furthermore, this is getting way off topic in a flagship (literally and figuratively) thread (nudge to @Bltizo).
Not my claims, just trying to bring clarity to a discussion where everyone is trying to talk over each other without actually listening.

Would this statement be accurate regarding 003, or larger, size carriers, as well?

Wouldn't be accurate at the time I made the statement, but would be more or less accurate after China finishes the building of 003. Because, by then, it's just a matter of scaling, which China is best positioned to do.
