But even so they are building two Burkes per year. Looks like they are going to add another $25 billion to the overall budget, much to the Navy, plus they already added tens of billions to shipyard and dockyard construction, overhaul, repair, etc. Of course we'll see if this results in expanded production rate but it's not a guaranteed no.

By end of decade I assume they will still be >90 in the destroyer/cruiser class of ships. They have median estimates of 112 in some publications but the worst case probably won't be lower than 85.

So, do you think China will have >85 destroyers/cruisers in the coming decade? I don't think so but then again I'm not as well-informed.
With the retired Ticos, the US will have 85-95 destroyers by 2030. With its current speed, China can build 30 destroyers in the 2020s. Even if the first five Chinese destroyers get retired, I still expect 75 destroyers in the PLA by 2030. If China keeps the speed it had during 2019-2021, I expect up to 85 destroyers in the PLA by 2030. So yes. I can see the PLAN equaling the USN in the number of destroyers/cruisers by the mid-2030s.

Yea, I agree it's possible by the mid-2030s as well.

Since 2003 PLAN had launched 3 Type 075, 8 Type 055, 25 Type 052D, 6 Type 052C, 32 Type 054A, 50 Type 056/056A. I think it's more than the USN did during the cold war ( if CVs and SSNs not taken for consideration ).
Quite far from it. US built 15 carriers, 54 cruisers, 82 destroyers, 110 full sized frigates between 1950 and 1989. The US not only built far more in total during the Cold War, but built more major surface combatants by hull count or displacement each year, even excluding carriers, then what China built the last 17 years. Furthermore, it is quite arguable a large fraction of the ships the US built were technically considerably more cutting edge for their time during the Cold War than what China had built during their time in the last 17 years.

Yea sounds like bullshit. You are saying US has built more in one single year than China has built in the last 17 years? And that's excluding their carriers too?

Provide some evidence. I don't have to look to know that China has built more than 1 million tons and >100 principal surface ships in the last 17 years. Your data is actually completely wrong. In all probability, in terms of hull count, China has close to matched in 17 years what the US has done in the entire Cold War.

Now, total displacement is entirely another story. I'm sure the US in those 39 years built more by tonnage than China has in 17 years. But to say that the US has built more in one year than China in all 17? Very silly.

The classes, the numbers of vessels per class, of the total tonnage of US warships constructed during the Cold War is trivial to find on Wikipedia.

So stop rhapsodizing About what the relative chinese warship building prowess is a ledge to be without apparently having done any research on what the benchmark really had been, and go look them up.

You can't provide evidence because your claim is embarrassingly stupid. In no single year from 1776-2021 has the US tonnage or number of major hulls produced exceeded the entire Chinese production or tonnage over the entire 17 years.

One could charitably interpret what you just wrote as you having difficulties with the language. So in the interests of clarification, I think you should answer whether you think that the US built more ships per year on average during the Cold War than China built per year on average since 2003, or whether you think the US built more ships per year on average during the Cold War than China has over the entire period since 2003.

His request is pretty reasonable because what you wrote made it sound like you believed the US during the cold war built more surface combatants in a single average year during the cold war, than China built in the entire of its last 17 years.

The ball is in your court to clarify what you wrote (because frankly it's worded bizarrely). There is no shame in explaining that it was just poor phrasing.

On the other hand, if you stand by your statement, then it is also on you to provide a breakdown of the numbers given the scale of your claim.
