Helicopters are indeed an important component to a modern warships combat capabilities. Especially if the helicopter can enhance the ships ASW capabilities.

That's Asif for you. When I first join this forum, I was also super annoyed by his obsessive persistence. But I got used to it. After a while, you start to appreciate him. Well, I like him now.

And after a while, I start to take his concerns a lot more seriously. For example, I used to never pay much attention to PLA's LCACs, but now I am actually kinda worried that I have never really seen a picture of 726s unloading a MBT....

There are photos of the 726s unloading a MBT. There are also photos of them going into a 71 welldeck. Asif is just ignoring them.

Type 517 isnt exactly 'modern'.
The increased size of main S band quad faces on type 055 over type 052d may be enough to emulate the long range detection capabilities of 517.
Type 055 doesnt have a secondary long range radar.
