I also believe it's too early to say that a small array size is appropriate for a L-band search radar. If Su-35's L-band antennae is a search array the manufacturer would have certainly sold it as a key aspect of the aircraft. More so when export orders are really going, and if Kopp's correct that the arrays in the horizontal stabilisers provide elevation info. But only IFF and EW are officially confirmed. Even in Kopp's analysis stated the need for confirmation. AFAIK most if not all exisiting L-band search phased arrays are large systems.
But let's say if the set of larger block arrays on the bridge are additional search radars of whichever FRQ, since volume search, horizon search and fire control is reply upon type 346 and the X band arrays, that leaves early warning (like 052C/D's Yagi) that's best explains a need for more radars, if there was one.
