No way, I know China is rich, but not that rich, if they do that, they need to spend close to 4% of GDP.
Where did you get this "4%" of GDP from, may I ask? FYI this IMO is actually a low-ball estimate compared to some of the posters on this forum.

Here is article about sensors
I have some doubts about this article's claims about the sensors. It mentions #6 as "LPI radars" which doesn't make sense because LPI is not a category of radars, like AESA, PESA, or pulse Doppler. AESA and less so PESA are naturally LPI radars, but there is no specific "LPI radar". As for the 346B, if it is S-band its ability to operate as a fire control radar is negligible unless they are talking about using it to control the main gun, which I guess is a possibility, though the (alleged) X-band radar on the main mast would certainly be a better candidate.

eventually China will spend about 2.0%-3% of GDP for defence ... currently about 1.5%

in my opinion 3% is somewhat still healthy ... just the upper limit ... perhaps 2.5% is ideal

China's defence spending mostly in local currency and within China ... so in a way good for economy ... unlike many countries which big % come from weapon purchases from overseas i.e Saudi, India, Japan, etc

in 2017
Imagine in PPP term ... 2% means $460B and 3% $700B
in nominal GDP .......... 2% means $240B and 3% $360B

But in 2025 ... the figure would be double ;););)

just to finish here:
Going by the mock up, certainly a set of 4 mast arrays.

The green covers hid array installation from peeping paparazzi.

yeah later I realized it would be strange if there isn't a panel mounted aft (where the red arrow points in the picture below):

... candidate.
before I forget: what's your take on ASW role of Type 055?

borrowing the view of a bulbous bow:
it looks way bigger than a recent CG I found:

I mean I heard the Slavas had had even a TAS, which was something I saw ridiculed even in Russian sources (as a Soviet obsession with ASW at that time), but I of course don't compare the Slavas to Type 055 or nothing

If it has VDS + TAS + 2 helos like what we assume, it will be a potent ASW platform. Then again, it will be a potent AAW, ASuW, ABM, and land attack platform as well. And of course a premiere command platform.
so you wouldn't consider it to be a waste when a 12 k-displacing cruiser drags a sonar around, no?

Given the low cost and size of VDS and TAS, you might as well as add them to a destroyer.

And the more helicopters the better, as they have lots of uses. One of them being the primary asw asset, after being primed by another sensor source
