Looking at this photo, it really feels like they tried a bit too hard to stuff a 1130 CIWS into the design

It looks like:
1. it's not positioned high enough, which will affect its front elevation angles,
2. it also wastes extra space in front of the bridge to give it decent side firing angles, which used to be less of a problem on 052D and 055 because they have angled superstructures for the 4 panel radars

Any confirmation of what type AShM carried by 054B ? would it be the latest variant of YJ-83KH or (hopefully) YJ-18 ?

YJ-83KH. Notice the non-flat covers of the missile canisters.

This is the same as those fitted on the 054A/AGs.

In the meantime, the YJ-18 are meant to be launched from UVLS cells (and torpedo tubes), not slanted missile canisters.

YJ-12s are worse than the latest model of YJ-83 in important areas such as reliability in littorals and effectiveness against ECM.
And how can you know that? I guess you are interpreting that yourself from the latest YJ-83s having IR cameras in addition to a radar. If that is the case, you should have presented that as a possibility along with your substantiation. You don't have data therefore you can't drop confident one liners.

I should have included the fact that there are IIR sensors in the models I was referring to in my reply, you are right. As for the data, I was basing that conclusion off what capabilities IIR sensors provide in other models of AShM that have more data released about them, such as the NSM. Its not objective fact but is very likely.

Totally agree!

Move 1130 back to the same locations as on 054A and they should have role for 16 more VLS
