The Z-20 can also operate from the 055 and the carrier itself, as well as possibly the resupply ship, which I believe covers the entire CSG.

If a CSG has 2 large, and 4 medium destroyers as well as 4 frigates, that’s 12 hangers and 10 decks suitable for Z-20’s.
Yes, Andy. But you want to operate the Z-18s off those 2 vessels as they (should) have better range/payload performance, and are the only combat vessels that the Z-18s can operate off.

@Blitzo had a pretty comprehensive writeup on the 054B FFG on The Diplomat, released just today.

Also @Blitzo, I believe you mean YJ-18 in the highlighted sentence instead of YJ-12?

Yep, I'll get that amended.

That said, I don't think there's a need to post my articles here, it's not like I'm adding anything new to the conversation that people here aren't already aware of.

I just read the excellent article (like a great book, not long enough) and when I got to the pros/cons of which VLS system is installed, one hypothesis I haven't read here (most sincere apologies if it has been suggested) is why not have both VLS systems 16 each with UVLS behind? Workable with wider beam? I find the argument of using the older VLS so older 054A can share the upgrades mid-life to be very persuasive but the UVLS can turn 054B into such little menacing monsters. Can't wait for the first image.
