That specific missile shown at expos has a name, it is FM-3000N. And we haven't had any indications to suggest it is the 5-5-5 missile, for all we know FM-3000N is the losing contender for the tender.
Do we have any info or updates on the winner contender?

No.
There is very little confirmed as to what the actual 555 missile is like.

But there is no indication at this stage to suggest FM-3000N is it. Like, it might be, but it might not be. However objectively speaking there's been no indicators that it is, so we have to respect that.

There's the 5-5-5 quad-packable mid-range SAM shown in Chinese military expos, but that's for the 850mm UVLS. I believe that the 5-5-5 would be the PLAN-equivalent to the USN's RIM-162.

However, so far there has been zero indication of the PLAN showing keen interests in such ideas, despite having much larger UVLS cells than their American counterpart (635mm).

No information of any quad-packable SAMs planned/proposed for the 650mm VLS on the 054As and 054Bs, though.

Won't rule it out though. SAST, the institute responsible for the HQ-16 and AJK-16 systems, both land and sea, showed a land based SAM system called the LY-70 at the last Zhuhai. The LY-70 is a land system where the SAMs are packed in clusters of four. It is positioned as the competitor to the FM-3000 of the rival institute which has both land and naval versions, the latter is a quad pack on the U-VLS. LY-80 is the export name of the HQ-16.

While I would have thought a 2 hangar arrangement for the 054B would have been likely, and even more so given the dimensions of the vessel, that it has only 1 suggests to me that the PLAN is comfortable with the future airborne ASW capability of a CSG. Noting of course that the 052DL and apparently the 054B can operate the Z-20.

The Z-20 can also operate from the 055 and the carrier itself, as well as possibly the resupply ship, which I believe covers the entire CSG.

If a CSG has 2 large, and 4 medium destroyers as well as 4 frigates, that’s 12 hangers and 10 decks suitable for Z-20’s.

Yep, type 054A cells it seems. This also makes it have VLS in the mid of the ship more likely, so anywhere between 48 and 64 cells it will eventually carry.

The question now is, do they have a quad-packable SAM to go with it?
Can someone do a mid section satellite image comparison to the 054B already launched to see it it would be possible for the mid ship VLS to exist?
