054B/new generation frigate

as long as it functions looks aren't a big deal, but to me the superstructure looks a bit blocky and ill proportioned unlike say the original 054 or the 055.

This article has a few top down views of the 054B when it was still under construction. can we speculate that the holes indicate that it indeed has a mid section VLS? in addition to the frontal VLS.

I'm obsessed with the middle of the 054B lol. This PLA watcher says that the fact that there are no slant ASM midship as of now indicate that there is another VLS in this position.

I’m obsessed with the middle as well lol. The PLAN was playing this cat-and-mouse game with watchers like us during the launch of 101 Nanchang as well.

hahaha can you imagine if the 054B had 48 total VLS. thats as much as the UK has on its destroyers lol. and the 054B is only a frigate. PLA hardware development is FULL SPEED AHEAD!!!

man I gotta say seeing China so powerful today is such a good feeling. mainly because China was so weak and poor for much of the last 200 years. That makes today's position as the world's second most powerful, and second wealthiest country sooooo much sweeter.

Sure America has been number one for a long time now. But I feel that it's nothing special since America didn't come from a position of weakness and powerlessness. It was at about the same level as the European powers for much of its history.

Any thoughts on what this small panel is? In some of the drawings I’ve seen, the lower part was a rectangular panel, the same width as the radar face with the small panel prominently standing out.

Perhaps IFF or missile uplink?
