054B/new generation frigate

We can see a large square panel which is almost certainly for an opening for towed VDS (which we've seen on later 054As, and all 052Ds and 055s).

And there are multiple smaller openings any of which could be for a towed linear sonar.

So I think we can safely say it does definitely have a towed VDS and almost certainly has a towed linear sonar.

Basically all new build surface combatants for the PLAN from the early/mid 2000s from 1500t 056As to 13,000t 055s (i.e. 054As and 052Ds as well) have both towed VDS and towed linear sonar, so it would be frankly bizarre if 054B lacked them.
You're righr... I didn't see the square cutout on the earlier pics I saw!

A closer view of the gun turret + a comparison between 054B and 054.

If not only such god-awful antique of a turret stands out like bollocks of a bulldog on an otherwise very 21st Century design platform, IIRC the French 100mm turret design is a route that the Chinese have given up on, thus the Russian 76mm design rolled out as standard.

Why?? If UVLS does end up being fitted there, it would be preferable to pack as much UVLS in the available space as possible as opposed to adding slant launchers using that space. Slant launchers should only be fitted as next best alternative if due to space and/or weight constraints UVLS could not be fitted in that space.
Lol you are right. Brainfarted

Hm I wonder whether they fitted the old 100 mm gun because the new type suggested to be fielded isnt ready yet or there were some issues with development. Its entirely speculative of course, but given how this turret sticks out like it does and how even older DDG (such as 052B etc) put that gun in a better shaped cupola, I just suspect there is a relatively straightforward explanation for it. Anyway, wait and see I guess.

How do you know it's the old gun inside? Assuming the comparison of the 054 and 054B 100mm turrets from By78 is similar in scale, the overall volume of the new turret has significantly decreased.

How do you know the new stealth turret is worse? Visually or actual RCS reduction wise?
