Not 100% sure about those additional 054A claims, but here are some photos of the 5th 054A in HP shipyard. They are from the same set of photos.

Well it all really depends on what that vessel currently in blocks is. The one in the assembly hall certainly seems to be an 054 and it has its bow attached. That means that the one still in blocks is a seperate ship. Based on the pictures posted by tphuang that ship has the same bow contour as the 5th 054A which would suggest that there are two 054 ships under construction but yet to be launched at HP.

This of course assumes all the photos are from the same date and that the ship in blocks is definitely an 054, it may still be something else...?

I certainly agree the one outside still in the blocks look like another 054A ship. I'm not sure about the one taken in the darkness. I think that was taken from another date. But I guess we will find out after the new years.

We Can Not See The 054A (If there is one) Behind This Ship.

At Least We Are Able To See An Additional 054A Partially Blocked By The 5th 054A Of HP

That photo does look familiar, it could just be that the scene is so frequent now, or it could be that the picture has been posted before. I do seem to remember an 054A surprising us by being hidden behind another ship in the assembly hall.

Looking back at some of the pictures posted by tphuang back in November, the conclusion then seemed to be that a sixth 054A was under construction in the assembly building at HP, if that conclusion was right then that vessel would still be in the building and the unit outside would be the 7th boat.

Making the assumption that this is the case raises another interesting question, where is HD in all this? Is their any evidence of even a 6th unit there? let alone a 7th?

don't know, haven't seen any new photos out of Shanghai recently. The new year is coming in a little over a week, so we are not going to see any activity until at least the end of February. My assumption is that HD is busy working on further Type 071s, so its 054A progress slowed down. It is possible that HP has gotten more orders than HD. When 053 series was been built, it wasn't always split evenly between the two shipyards.

Well that is what I was starting to wonder, whether we are not seeing 11 and 13 but 11 and 12 with construction coming to a halt at HD following the 5th unit there. Only time will tell....

speaking of the devil, here are a couple of photos. Look like the 4th unit from 054A is not going to be delivered until after the Chinese New Years. The 5th unit has foremast installed, but will need a bit more work before launching.
