Why are they building lengthened Type 054A frigates? I can understand why they have built upgraded 054A with the last batch, but why not just build more 054B instead of a slightly larger 054A?

In this regard, the 054Cs could become analogues to the 054A/AGs (i.e. serial-production variant), similarly to how the 054B twins could become analogues to the 054 twins (i.e. one-off technological verification platforms).
