woooow, so Asif how many 054A will be produced total?, it seems to me there is no sign of stopping it. PLAN must be extremely happy with it.

I'd like to see a modification of 054A to incorporating 052D VLS type which is built to GJB 5860-2006 standard, perhaps not 9 meter length (like on 052D), but 7 meter one. Also to installed 2 of HHQ-10 with 24-cell launcher each

With China's recent military white paper calling for operations to secure/defend Chinese interests globally, I wonder if PLAN will stop building medium size frigates like the 54As and go to 6 or 7k ton designs to maximize mission capability and long endurance.

Not sure about 6000-7000 ton frigates given that is in the range of current DDGs, but I do expect 054A's successor (054B or 057 or whatever it's called) to exceed 5000 tons in displacement, at full.

One feedback from the various anti-piracy flotillas is lack of ample space to do maintenance on existing ships, so enlarging them would help. Also, larger ships can fit more systems and perform greater veriety of missions.

I think all sailors would generally like to have more space aboard their ships. The question is what is the minimum amount of space that can allow the ship to function to the best capability deemed as required, which will depend on not only space for equipment and maintenance of equipment but also space for crew to do their jobs effectively (berthing, amenities, etc).

No doubt 054A's successor will be larger, but how much larger is another question.
